I made the UNFORTUNATE mistake of selecting to "sync" my skydrive. Decided I don't need to sync my files across devices or even for sharing on my home PC. Then I noticed this little cloud appears in my task bar. Upon further investigation I found skydrive is open [or active] somehow. I didn't understand this cause I wasn't using it & it's also CONTINUALLY updating, then one time it was downloading. I was thoroughly confused, downloading what. I guess it's updating my image files that are hosted on the cloud server. Well, I didn't want this; finding it rather vexing I went exploring for solutions on how to disable it. Ending the process in task manager was one method...but sometimes it would intermittently re-activate, like a veritable ghost in the machine. I'd "end task", again. It kept coming back. Well, I was getting next to furious so I went looking for other solutions. I found information which told me to go into the skydrive task manager & disable the sync. It seemed easy enough, I did this; it's a slide bar. I click 'slid' it over to off. Figured, problem solved. NO! This darn skydrive sync engine host keeps coming on & turning up in the task manager & on my task bar...there is another solution on disabling it in the task scheduler functions...something to do with system idle maintenance which is bundled within the Windows automatic maintenance functions. Again, such a vexing & PERPLEXING matter. I opened up the windows maintainence functions & the system idle thing has been removed but then there's this other associated task that there's no option to disable or delete it...the skydrive app or sync engine host does not appear anywhere in the list of scheduled functions executed, both past or present. Yet there it is continually in my task manager & on my task bar like this annoying little BUG. I even uninstalled the skydrive software download available from the microsoft site...I cannot find the file for the skydrive app in my system. The software download is unrelated to the sync engine host which is part of the Skydrive App (now called ONE DRIVE)...so uninstalling this software download & running a cleaner to remove registry values & configurations did nothing to eliminate the sync engine host.
It's worse than a parasite...how do I get rid of it?
As a last resort, I tried running system restore. I'm so upset  my computer is brand new & all these hassles. I've only run the system restore once. It worked properly...now when I launch the system restore, it sits there initializing til infinity. I waited probably 15 minutes, last night, while the system restore was initializing. I can't escape, control alt delete, get out of it. Nothing was happening. The dotted circle kept spinning & nothing was happening. I had to turn the main power off to shut down my computer. Then it tells me that system restore did not complete, was terminated before it could finish. I've never had system restore (even on my 20 year old computer) take that long to initialize or fail to complete the sequence. I want to know if the system restore is messed up...it's like all this began after that stupid skydrive sync host. I don't know if it bugged my computer or what. I find these app's tend to do that, cause system malfunctions in places you wouldn't expect.
I need DOUBLE help. Plz.
