Hi,

I have Windows 8.1 installed on my laptop and following is the screen shot of the network information:

1. Basic Network information and setup information.
2. Properties of TIC/IP 4 connection under Advanced/WIN tab

Although, I can connect to other laptop if both are wired, but if other laptop is not wired then I can only see its name appearing in the homegroup connection but cannot connect to it.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks for your kind help in advance.

If you can unzip then click on the file below it will place a network info .txt on your desktop, please upload the .txt from both machines so I can have a look. :)

Yes, I need the file it places on your desktop. The .bat to .exe is just the program I used to convert it from a .bat to a .exe.

Does the wireless connection show IPv6 listed as a protocol?

As homegroups use IPv6 , I think that is probably the issue.

unfortunately I haven't found an easy solution to it.

Actually IPv6 always says no internet access, this doesn't mean that IPv6 isn't working. If IPv6 wasn't working or was disabled then Homegroups wouldn't work using a wired connection either.

For the wireless Homegroup access problem you should try resetting the router or updating the firmware on the router.

Also, make sure the router isn't using some sort of guest wireless which would set up the wireless outside the normal network.

IPv6 says 'no connection' , not 'no internet access'.

No actually the screen shot says No Internet Access, just like mine does, the Op said IPv6 show's No connection which is not true, it says No Internet Access which is exactly what it always says. ;)

It says 'no network access' if you look at the screen capture.

If we could only see the ipconfig then we can tell for certain if IPv6 has been disabled.

I tried to obtain that information in my first post but unfortunately it never happened.

Maybe just an ipconfig/all because I guess the .exe automatic one didn't work for the first time ever.

I have been able to solve my problem by first removing the wireless network driver from the device manager and on restarting the PC Win8 installed it automatically and when tried to connect to my router it asked if I wanted to connect to local devices on private network, which if selected "YES" I was able to connect to my other laptop on Wi Fi. Many thanks to all for your kind support.
