Wireless connection troubles

Just bought a new Gateway desktop with Windows 8 and can't maintain wireless internet connection.
Connects sometimes, but drops unexpectedly
Sometimes says it can't connect, but does anyway and works fine
Sometimes it can't see any networks
Usually can only see my network, though I am in a condominium surrounded by many networks.
My HP laptop (Windows XP) in the same room has a solid connection so I know the wireless signal strength is not an issue

I saw the "unstable wifi" post and tried removing network devices from power saving, that didn't help. Any other suggestions?

Hi Parizade and welcome. One thing you can try is if your router has a QoS setting, disable it.
