Hello,
I faced a strange issue on wireless network configuration after doing a clean install of Windows 8.1.
I succeeded to find a workaround that maybe helpfull for others but I am still interested to read an explanation of this issue.
So as indicated above, I made a clean install of windows 8.1 pro on a brand new PC I built up myself featuring a Gigabyte Wifi/BT PCI-e card (GC-WB300D) . After the install, the wifi connection from my home router was immediately detected and I saw the icon and indication on the bottom right of the screen "network available" then I right click on it and a bar on the left of my screen appeared. I click in the side bar on the network icon I was willing to connect and I was prompted to enter my login and password rather than the wifi security key so of course the connection to my (home) wifi network failed as the security key was never configured for this connection. I opened up the network and sharing center to find a menu item to configure my connection by keying th security key without success. I worked around this issue by creating a new connection using the same SSID of the connection already detected automatically by windows as there is a field in this menu to enter the security key.
Any explanation ?
