OK, my W-8 system shows "Workgroup" as the name. On my '95 system, I can see, under
Network Neighborhood/Entire Network, two groups,
MSHome and
Workgroup. Further, under Workgroup I can see both my Windows 8 system name, and my wife's, also on the network. When I click (on the '95 system) on my system's name, I get this:
"<name> is not accessible. This system is not supported by the network."
When I click on my wife's system name (also Windows 8) I see:
"You must supply a password to make this connection." It then gives my a place to enter the password. None work. I also notice her system name is shown as
\\<name>\IPC$ which I would expect to be just <name>. I don't know why the two systems are seen differently from my '95 system. Bottom line, if I could get just one to see the '95 system, I'd be happy. I'm trying to get a file off the old '95 system, but it doesn't have a USB port, just a floppy drive. So, sneaker-net is not going to work.
