No internet after hibernating

For many years I've always hibernated my computer when I'm done for the night, then wake it in the morning and continue where I left off. For the past week or so when I wake it up I have no internet connection. I have run the self repair thing (I forget the name off the top of my head) which usually fixes any problem I have but this time it says it can't solve the problem. I tried Googling for an answer and the only solution I could find didn't work. That is to go into Device manager > Network Adapters, and disable "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power". That didn't sound like a good answer anyway since this did work before and now it suddenly doesn't. Any ideas? Thanks.

My specs are:
Win 8.1 Pro x64, Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz, GeForce GTX 470, 8GB RAM

This is an ongoing problem with Windows 8 and 8.1 with no definite solution other than to update drivers from either Microsoft or the manufacture's site at "Gigabyte" to install latest drivers and bios updates and hope for the best.

Hmm OK thanks. I don't actually use the Gigabyte ethernet but instead a separate one, the Intel Pro 1000 GT Adapter. I'll have to see if Intel has an update.

I'm sorry I was just guessing because your specs only said Gigabyte,.

For the Intel 1000GT there are some new Windows 8.1 drivers for it that may help if you don't already have them.

It should be the driver at the very top although with Intel lately they may hide it again. :)

Thanks for the link. Curiously I tried to install it and it says "No Intel Adapters are present on this computer". And yet, there it is in the Device Manager. Not to mention I'm looking at it through the side of my case. I tried the Win 8.1 driver and then the 8 driver too.

Edit: Yup, I went through my old Newegg purchases from 2008 and found it.

Yes apparently the only driver that works for this adaptor is the Windows driver, this is about the only Intel adaptor that does it this way from what I've read.

I think until Windows updates this driver the hibernation won't function as it should so checking Windows updates might be your best bet.

That's Frustrating. According to the Device Manager the current one came out in 2010. :(
