When I installed Dropbox on my 8.1 machine, when I go to Share on the Charms menu, Dropbox is an
option and when I click on it..nothing happens. It just shows the blue dropbox logo.

When I tap on Dropbox from my Start Menu, it automatically logs me into my account so I don't
know why Dropbox seems to be lost from the Share.

Does anyone know how to get this to work on the Charms bar?

Hi there
The SEARCH Charms function is a typically BOVINE piece of software that obviously wasn't tested by the developers with NORMAL USERS before being rolled out.

The only asinine way I can get this thing to even HALF work is to use the Metro version of IE to bring up a web page and then go into the Charms menu where some of the context *might* appear in the charms share.

Reading further - it seems functionality of this will be limited to Store apps only -- even more imbecellic -- I HATE the whole "Store concept" anyway -- leave that method to our well known "Fruit Company".

The way I would have designed it would be for you to right mouse click and then pin the link / item you want to share -- but Oh No - some incredibly useless system was devised -- some of the designers here SHOULD HAVE BEEBN SHOT !!!! => Don't people ever do a simple POC (Proof of Concept) of their applications these days before writing A SINGLE LINE OF CODE or is that too old fashioned now.

Cheers

Do you have the App installed or is this the desktop version? Was this working before upgrading to Windows 8.1?
Dropbox app for Windows in the Windows Store

From what I have read the functionality of Dropbox in Windows 8 leaves much to be desired, although disabling UAC may helpful for resolving problems with dropbox.

It only showed up on the charms bar only after I had upgraded to 8.1. I already had Dropbox installed when I was on 8.0. I already tried to uninstall and re-install from the Windows store. No help.

Don't know if someone can help but I also have a dropbox issue. I have installed Dropbox on my Sony laptop running windows 8.1 and Office 2013 (new to both). From Start screen I can access the dropbox and open my files fine. The issue is when I try to save it I am told it was opened "read only". and have to rename or save someplace else. Don't have the problem on my old windows xp laptop running office 2007. How do I get it to save back to dropbox?? Thanks
