hey guys i have had a problem for the past 3 weeks where i loose internet at around the same time every night, but recently the times have gotten random. i am usually playing a game and on Teamspeak which is another problem in it's own. i will drop connection and it will take windows a few minutes to detect that it has no connection. when i carry out a windows diagnostic it says that my DNS is unresponsive or is not responding. The thing is to fix it i disconnect from my 5 ghz network and reconnect which fixes it until the next time. This gets really annoying when playing games or watching netflix.
My ISP: Virgin Media 60mb Down 3mb Up
My router setup: virgin media SuperHub set to modem mode then an asus RT-65U. my pc is the only 5ghz network capable pc as i bought an pce-n53 wifi card for that purpose for low ping in games.

any help would be great.

I have the most up to date firmware for my router. It was the first thing i checked. Thanks anyway

Ok I don't give up very easily. Call me old school but there is always a way to fix these problems.

After going through the reviews on your Asus PCEn53 wireless card it seems that many people have the same complaint as you do. Many people upset about this and it's no coincidence.. Below is a comment that may help, the important part is highlighted in bold.

This is a very good card but at first it wasn't working like advertised. On the cd that comes with the card there is an option to install the driver and utility. DO NOT INSTALL THE UTILITY DON'T!!!! When I noticed it was running to slow I contacted Asus and they person I talked to said that whenever he gets a call regarding this card it usually relates to the utility that slows it down. So I did and now it works fine. Lastly if your router doesn't have a 5GHz signal, that wont be able to be used with this card for people who don't know much about internet hardware and signals .

Cons: None besides getting confused when I saw it wasn't running fast as advertised, but this solves that for you. And other problems if you do this and still doesn't work that's when you need to contact Asus yourself. In other words this is not a Windows 8 problem.

You will also require the latest Windows 8 drivers from Asus.

i used the utility once but had worse problems than this when it was installed. i have not used the utility for a while now. Also the weird thing is when someone connects to the 2.5ghz network i immediately notice a slow down and experience problems opening web pages until i disconnect and reconnect . Also i Lag during games a soon as someone starts watching videos on youtube, nut if i watch netflix it's fine.
