Windows 8 Network Connectivity Dialog Box won't come up

I'm running Win8 Dev. Preview on a Dell Latitude D610 with a single-core 1.73Ghz processor, 2GB of RAM, and 256MB of video memory. I've been running Win8 for roughly 3 weeks with no problems. Now, for some unknown reason, the dialog box used to connect to wireless networks utterly refuses to open. No matter how many times I click it or how long I wait.

    Hi there
    1) Check that you aren't currently connected to a Wired Network as well
    2) Check that the Wireless facility hasn't been turned off -- sometimes this is disabled in SOFTWARE - not only hardware
    3) Check that the driver is still OK -- look in Device manager -- easiest way in W8 to get there is to choose Control Panel from the metro ui start screen - scroll down to the bottom and choose advanced so you get the "Classical Control panel" settings that you got used to in W7 / XP and then select system.

    4) If it IS OK I'd uninstall and re-install the wireless driver.

    5) Check other 3rd party Wireless set up / network software isn't stopping the standard W8 network setup from working -- some 3rd party software stops the standard Windows wireless setup functionality.

    Cheers

    Dialog box

The wireless card still works, and will still connect to networks that it "automatically" connects to. I still have a WiFi connection everywhere I did before this happened. The little pop up to view wireless networks won't pop up, no matter how many times I click it, how long I wait.

As a test create a user account, log on with that account and see if you can get it to pop up.

funny thing is i have the same exact machine and I have the same exact problem no available wireless networks dialog box.

The only way I can get functionality out of it is using a Third party programs to find wifi networks.

i realized that I used a hack or something to remove the metro ui which in turn removed my network wifi connections pop up. I ended up doing a bluepoison hack and that brought up the old windows 7 looking pop up.
