Hi guys, my problem is the inability to create a new Homegroup. The password I had for the one I created does not work since I left the homegroup. Now the only option available to me it to join a homegroup I have been invited to. I don' t know anyone I live near that has invited my to join so I think it is my old homegroup but that password is long gone. Now I cant share my videos and music with my xbox. I use an apple airport express that my computer and xbox sign in to but my xbox does not see my computer however, my computer sees my xbox.
I'm out of ideas, any help?

You just need to leave the Homegroup on all networked machines then create a new one. Although you shouldn't need to set up a Homegroup in order to share content with the Xbox.

The problem I have is, I only have one computer (this one) which I created the homegroup with and since I left the homegroup the only option I have is to join the homegroup that's available under PC settings. No other option is available. So to recap, one xbox, one ultrabook and an apple airport express. The only option under PC settings is to enter the password under the header "a homegroup is available". No other computers should be networked, however, I live in a container in Afghanistan and I see a bunch of other computers (from the soldiers who live above and next door to me) available for sharing on my xbox. All but mine now. Any chance these other users are causing a problem? My airport express is password protected as well.

Yes I see your situation more clearly now.

You can see the other machines in the network because those other machines are on the same network as you so any other machines that connected to your Homegroup that you created will keep that Homegroup active with the original Homegroup password.

Although I'm not completely sure how anyone else could join the Homegroup that you created unless you gave them the Homegroup password.

Of course in your situation creating a Homegroup isn't really going to help because you don't have any other machines to add to it. Although it would serve to protect your User folder from other machines in the Workgroup. And you should be able to connect to the Xbox without having to set up a Homegroup.

So to rejoin this particular Homegroup you would need to acquire the Homegroup password from someone else in the LAN that is a member of the same Homegroup.

I never allowed anyone else on my homegroup and the password I have does not work. I also know the password is case sensative. No luck there either. I can see my xbox on my computer as being shared but my computer is not visible to my xbox, just the surrounding guys computers are visible there. I have turned on all the sharing options I can find. And again it was working last week, it just stopped one day.

So the main problem is your machine isn't visible on the network. I'm hoping there isn't a third party A/V software involved.

For this problem try going to the Network and Sharing Center, then to the Advanced Sharing Settings, make sure that Network Discovery and Printer and file Sharing is enabled for the Private Network settings.

Also turn on these settings for Guest and Public networks. Then go to the All Network settings and turn on sharing for Public folders and you might want to turn on the Media Streaming options while you are there.

I believe I know what this problem is where you can't leave the Homegroup in order to create a new one but we need to make you are visible on the network first.
