After much thought I recently did a fresh install of my OS everything was working before just wanted a fresh start.
Since I did the fresh install I'm getting wifi doesn't have a valid up configuration and for the life of me I can't seem to figure it out.
This is on a desktop and I can't use a wired connection also I have tried resetting the router. And refreshing windows 8 again. Mind boggled.

It's likely that your machine with the new installation requires a visit to the Windows Update Center in order to install the latest updates which will most likely fix the wireless connection problem.

You really need to connect the first time using a wired connection so as to obtain the updates from Windows.

Can you look in Device Manager to see if the driver is installed for the WiFi adaptor under Network Adaptors.
