Hi All,

Just setup a N router, works OK with Laptop with Win 8, but
unable to connect with Win 8 Desktop.
Have entered router keys OK but nothing pops up to click
to connect.
Been into (Settings) then (Change PC Settings), but no
Wireless tab in setting.
Type in wireless, PC checks (No wireless).

I have Win 8 Disk, can I load wireless driver from Disk
if yes how.

BF.

Most PC's do not come with a wireless NIC built in.

Did you check in Device Manager>Network Adaptors, to see if you have a wireless NIC installed in this PC?

As chev65 said, desktop PCs don't typically come with wireless capabilities but pretty much all laptops do. If you are sure your desktop has wireless capabilities then pursue finding a driver for it. If not, you could add wireless to your desktop using either a USB dongle or a PCI card.

Most people prefer their desktop to have a wired connection since it doesn't get moved much but like their laptop to have wireless so they can take it with them and connect to hotspots.

Hi All,

I bought a Maplins 300mbps wireless 802.11n PCI Adapter
(Ralink Technology Corp) to replace G router.
All drivers up to date, just checked.

My problem is with the PlusNet (TG582n) Technicolor router.
Installed router in living room (Replaced Old G Router) Booted
up Router, Tv connected and Laptop, but Desktop upstairs failed
to show PlusNet TG582n Router. Desktop showed up six other
Wi Fi routers but not PlusNet Router downstairs.
To cut it short, connected router next to Desktop and Wi Fi light Up.
My PlusNet N router has only got a Wireless range of 10 feet.

Desktop is still not sowing (Wireless tab) in Change PC Setting, but
It still connected to router, im looking at it now, its six foot behind me.

Any way to increase Router range. Thanks BF.
