If your other wireless devices work fine from the same location as your laptop then check these solutions..

lenovo y500 wi-fi serious problem - Lenovo Community

What they mean by the black and white wires is to remove the wifi cover and you will see a board with two removable wires that are clipped onto the board.
Please make sure your laptop is unplugged and the battery removed before checking the looseness of the wires.

I do not recommend resetting your bios to default setting, skip that part.

Let us know if you have success in resolving this issue..

thanks for the reply but is there anyway i could solve this without opening up the PC i guess it's kinda risky and could make the guarantee invalid * just assuming*

so far it's unstable still and goes up and down all the way

thank you and awaiting a reply

Does it do this only when its running on batteries or plugged in as well?

If you get closer to the wifi router is it stable or does it come and go as before?

After how long does it cut out? after a few minutes or an hour?

Does it do this while youre browsing or when its left alone?

Does it only do it when the screen blanks out?

Are you able test your connection on another network? (Possibly a friend or relatives? Or maybe a public hotspot?) Does your connection still drop out?

Also, are there any other Windows 8 machines on the network? Do any other devices experience the same kind of behavior?

What is the make/model of your router? You may need to change some settings since Windows 8 has poor compatibility with certain Wireless settings.

Many Thanks,
Josh :)

From what I've read in the link that Brooklyn posted the latest Intel driver 15.8.0.5 dated May 2013, works to fix this problem.
Intel PROSet/WLAN Driver 15.8.0.5 for Windows 8 64 bit Free Download

You also need to configure the router to use the 802.11N Only setting along with WPA-2 security with AES encryption only, not mixed with TKIP which causes endless problems.

Intel also agrees with these settings.
Wireless Networking — What are the recommended settings for 802.11n connectivity?

Removing all preinstalled bloatware is a good place to start, along with removing Norton for the love of Pete.

I had the same problem. The problem only occurred when running on battery.
I updated the driver (Using the W8 Fix option) and changed the energy settings for the Wifi (Used same energy settings, high, for battery as for connected to grid). This solved my problem.
