Windows 8 Keeps connecting to a wireless network

I have a neighbor who has an OPEN network called @HOMED689 . For some reason my Windows 8 machines keep trying to connect to this SSID automatically.

I've never tried to connect to it. Once it's connected however, with limited connectivity, I don't have the ability to right click on it and say "Forget this network" or do anything to it such as when I connect to another wireless it says:

Show Estimated Data Usage
Set as Metered Connect
Forget this Network
View Connection Properties

Nothing.

I have not found a way to stop my laptop from connecting to it.

Any ideas?

You might see if you may be able to do OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to "Forget this network" in the command prompt instead to remove that wireless network.

Open network and sharing center in control panel and search name of your unwanted network connection.
on clicking the network icon you will find option to disable network connection in quick access bar

Unfortunately the network doesn't even show up in that list.

To me this looks like you want me to disable my wireless connection all together. This doesn't fix anything if I do that.

It certainly seems like removing the check mark to connect automatically should be working for this. I've seriously have never heard of this problem before but changing the priority or unchecking the auto connect should do it.

I have come up with a solution for this problem.

1) Connect to the wireless network to which you do not want to automatically connect
2) Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections
3) Click on your wireless device - this brings up a dialog box titled "[WirelessConnectionNameHere] Status"
4) Click the Wireless Properties button
5) Uncheck the option for "Connect automatically when this network is in range"

Now, repeat this process for the connection you want as your default connection (eg, your home wireless network). For step 5, simply check the option for "Connect automatically when this network is in range". Now, your PC should find the "default" network and not connect to the one you want to ignore when you boot up, provided your home/office access point is within range.
