Unable to connect to wireless network

I have an Acer IconiaTab W500 with Windows 8 developer preview installed on it and I cannot get it to connect to my Cisco 1142 APs. I have a Guest network that is for b/g speeds only and requires [WPA2][Auth(PSK)]. I type the password in and Windows comes back and says something is wrong with the adapter or the access point.

I have taken the tablet over to StarBucks and was able to connect to their wireless network easily.

Of course Acer is no help. Since it came with Windows 7, that is the only support they can offer.

I have an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless adapter. I have tried to install the Win7 drivers and it will not allow the installation to run. I can see all the wireless SSID around me, including my Guest network.

I have disabled the MS Kernal Debug Netwrok Adapter. I left the MS Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter enabled.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Switch off your router, leave it for 10mins or something, try connecting again. First try without the Athros adapter.
EDIT: You could also try a different DNS server as well.

I'm not sure what you mean by the above response. My tablet does not have a ethernet jack - wireless only. I am not using a wireless router, I am using Cisco 1142 Access Points (I have rebooted them).

There is no DNS information becuase I have not been able to connect to the Guest SSID.

Try installing your drivers again but this time install them in W7 compatibility mode.

Inability to connect to wireless Network

Using Windows 7; any available network in range was available provided of course proper credentials were provided.

The only way I needed to create a new network is if it were a hidden network.:nerd:

You don't need to "create a new network" to join a Hidden network. If you know the SSID you just hit the Other Network and it lets you put in the SSID and then Key.

I find it super easy to joing wireless network, just skip the setup it at the installation part, and set it up after you login.

    wireless win 8

I posted on the wireless issue just now. I could connect to my neighbor, "unsecured dummy" I even told him about it all day but not my own, until I synced up the clocks in the home group. Then all was fine

    Windows 7

I am having a similar issue as the original post. I have installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my Acer W500. I can connect to my home wireless router (Linksys) but it wont connect on a Cisco 1142 wireless Access Point.

Although, when Windows 7 was installed on it I had no problem connecting to the Cisco 1142 AP.

Has anyone figured out why this is ?
