How to change networks

My home network (TFCJr) is set up through an access point for a wireless and wired network.
On this network are two wireless laptops both running Windows 8, a wife's wired HP PC running Windows 7, an Epson Workforce 845 printer, and previously my wired PC running Windows 8.
On all the computers except mine network information is given as TFCJr. Mine is listed as "Private". How do I delete the private network on my wired PC and rejoin TFCJr network? As it stands now the other three units are able to access the Epson printer yet I am not. Thanks for the help.

Hi Tconnally, welcome to the Eight Forums.

Private is a network type (location), not a network name. Changing the network type to Public (as opposite of Private) is not very practical at home, as a private network makes sharing a lot easier. Public networks are those you use at airports, hotels, net cafés and so on.

First check that all PC's belong to the same workgroup: Workgroup Name - View and Change - Windows 7 Help Forums (tutorial is on our sister forums Seven Forums but it explains how to view and change workgroup name both on Windows 7 and 8.)

Now on the problem PC open Network and Sharing Center by right clicking the connection icon on Notification area, click Change advanced sharing settings:

Check following settings, first Private:

Then All Networks:

Reboot the PC, check if file and printer sharing works now.
