Solved Re-activating the wifi

Dear all,

I have a very very small and yet highly annoying problem with windows 8 and my laptop, an Acer Aspire V5-531. The situation is as follows: Someone in my family seems to accidentally have turned off the wifi of the computer, and I can't find out how to turn it back on again! I have looked everywhere I can think of. For example I have looked under wireless in the computer settings(of course), but there I can only turn on and off Bluetooth and Airplane mode.

I would be truly grateful for any aid! Best regards!

Doesn't the Aspire series usual WiFi toggle FN + F3 work? It should toggle WiFi ON / OFF.

Thank you very much, but unfortunately I have already tried that, and the only difference it makes is that I turn off/on airplane mode...

Did you already check that the WiFi adapter is not disabled in Network Connections?

Thanks again for your time! Unfortunately I couldn't get that far. I went to the controll panel and then to 'Network and Internet', but that was as far as I got. There was not a 'Network Connection' to click on even. Could that indicate some more serious hardware trouble perhaps?

Please try again, you can get there also from Network and Sharing Center by clicking Change adapter settings.

Actually a neighbour came over and helped me solve it. It was very strange indeed. We found that the hardware for ethernet cables had, for some strange reason (do you have any clue why and/or how?) started to "fight" the hardware for the wifi. And the consequence was that the system became completely blind to the wifi. By dissabeling the ethernet, the wifi immediately started working again!
