Wifi issues

Ok, I built my pc back in December. It worked fine on windows 7, and I installed windows eight. It worked fine up until I updated windows 8, and now it doesn't even have the wifi icon in the taskbar. I use a belkin n750db gold edition to pick up my wifi signal, but now my only option for Internet is hooking up my desktop directly to my router via ethernet cable. I should also clarify that there is literally no wifi/wireless setting on my pc for some reason. It doesn't even have the wifi bars with the red like through it. I play lots of video games on my desktop, and have tried everything I thought to do although all advice would be welcome.

It could be the issue of any driver update that came with your Windows Update which is not compatible to your Wi-Fi . Most probably this may be caused by any KMDF (Kernel Microsoft Driver Framework) Driver which is not supported by your Wi-Fi.

In my opinion you should do a system restore to the date when your Wi-Fi was working. Or you can even go to
Device Manager -> Network Adapter -> Locate your Wi-Fi and right click on it -> Click Properties -> In that windows click on Driver Tab -> There you click on "Roll Back Driver" and wait until it completes. When it is completed restart your computer and see if your problem fixes or not.
Hope it will help.............

Join the club of Belkin owners who show no connections at all, http://www.eightforums.com/network-sharing/22917-belkin-wireless-software-windows-8-a.html

I would start by removing Windows updates and try to track down the source of the problem by removing or reinstalling one update at a time.

WIn 8 might have changed your network adapter settings and enabled your Ethernet adapter and disabled your wireless adapter. Try going to Control Panel>>>Network and Sharing Center then click "Change Adapter Settings". Disable Ethernet adapter and enable your wireless adapter card.
But hey, wired is the best way to go. I even invested on 4 powerline adapters to be able to connect all my devices hard wired anywhere in my house. Powerline adapters transmits your internet signal via the electrical wiring inside your house and you can use any electrical outlet to connect your PCs, HTPCs, smart TVs, etc via Ethernet. There is 0 loss in signal. I only use my wireless internet at home with my mobile devices.

I have tried everything, but nothing happens. I wish I could scrren cap my problems, but I really have no wireless connection avaliable. I tried re-installing windows 8 and that made no difference. The only option I have is a wired ethernet connection, but I have to share the modem/router with other people so taking the devices for myself is out of the option. I know the device I used before was 802.11 n WAN but I don't know how to find out what it is for my modem.
