Hi Guys,

Just bought a Dell Inspiron with a pre-installed Windows 8.Want to setup a wi-fi network at home but the wi-fi routers that i chekcked over the internet, most of them are not Windows8 compatible. Please suggest wi-fi routers(preferably D-Link/Netgear) suitable for home network and compatible with Windows 8.

I just bought this router recently and it is awesome! Check out the specs and the price. You won't get a comparable Netgear or D-Link for anywhere near the price. Oh, and make sure its a version 2 hardware if you decide to buy it from anywhere other than NewEgg. There is also a firmware update available from the manufacturer's website that you should apply. Its also future-proof and offers additional features like IPV6 ready and you can also create "temporary" guest accounts as well. I never saw anything like it for near the price!

I didn't need to get a new router when I got my Windows 8 Notebook after entering the particulars of the router I was connected.
I use the Notebook at the other end of the bungalow to the router so can't connect via Ethernet cable but I've had no problems so far with the connection.

I'm with BT and have their Home Hub version 2 which gives a very good wireless signal and the icon showing signal strength is usually full and only a few occasions drops a bar down.

Sorry I can't give any more help. I've only had 2 routers since being on broadband, 1 was with a former ISP that I had a few years and I can't remember the name but it wasn't one that you mentioned. My 2nd one was the Home Hub that I'm still using now, I've had it for several years now without problems.

Hopefully one of the others can give you information about the routers you need. ;)

I have been using a NETGEAR Wireless Router - N600 Dual Band Gigabit (WNDR3700) and happy with it so I recommended to 2 of my friends. Normally it will cost around $90 US new but for my 2 friends, I told them just buy a used one from Amazon.com for around $50 US each. The units came on 2nd day after the orders placed and worked flawlessly. Since you are from India, I don't know if you can get a used one but that's all you need.
