EU to Charge EU Residents VAT on US Hosted Web Sites

Just got an email from my domain hosts, Hostgator (an american company). Thery have been ORDERED by the EU, to start charging VAT for EU residents at the country VAT rate, from the next bill.

If any of you are EU site owners with US companies, you are also in line to pay the extra.

I have opened a ticket with HG asking that, sites that are hosted pay VAT - ok, but what about add on domains?

I imagine that only the site I pay hosting for is liable, not add ons.

I checked various other companies, and its not worth me looking for alternative hosts, and HG already knocks spots off most for prices.

The only site I will pay VAT is on the hosted domain, it does not matter how many add on's I have
