I used to pair my phone with my pc using blue ray with Win 7 but since I got Win 8 blue ray is gone.
The advisor prior to upgrading said it was not compatible.
Is there some way, now that I have Win 8 to retrieve or in any way get blue ray?
Thank you
Peter

:eek:I am justifiably embarrassed.
Yes, Bluetooth. My head is in my taxes!
I have Dell XPS 8300 and Dell Inspiron 15R , N5010.
It is the latter I am most concerned with as it is the laptop I use to pair with my phone.

I have a shot of the compatibility trouble shooter. Is this something that can be used to retrieve Bluetooth and if so what do I do?

Thank you

I have been busy working on this Bluetooth issue and apologize for the delay.
I took your advice and [disabled the flash] caught a pic of the BIOS for you to see.
It appears I have Bluetooth but can't get it to work. It was suggested that a newer chipset would do but I don't know how b/c when I go to Dell it recognizes my Win 7 not 8.
I try to download the updated software I was sent but it says to turn BT on first.
Unless you have any other ideas, I was wondering about a dongle or usb card you insert into the pc. I don't know what to ask for in the store so it works with my pc and OS.
If I got one, is it like the internal card. I wonder if it would work with Win 8 if the card wouldn't.
I was told that the attachment I enclosed shows that if I do not enable 'All' I will not have what I need to function all around and that BT is enabled
Any ideas appreciated.
Thank you

What does Device Manager show for Bluetooth? Maybe all you need is an updated driver or so. Hard for me to believe that your Bluetooth is not compatible.

Bluetooth continued

Hello
If you see my previous posts it seems as though I have Bluetooth. It does not work as the advisor predicted when I moved fro 7 to 8 for lack of compatibility.
I have not bothered for a while but just looked at the task manager services and saw bthserv... stopped.
I no nothing about this so was wondering, if this should be on for BT to work or if all machines have this?

The last time I was directed to install a driver I ran into problems which caused me to recover an image.
I don't know if Dell has or ever will release such a driver.

What is your take on this service being off regarding my Bluetooth not working?
Thank you
Peter

The advisor told me that Win 7 Bluetooth was not compatible with Win 8 and I did lose BT when I installed Win 8.

Please see the attachment and tell me if it is a good idea to download this file and also if I need to do anything with compatibility. I vaguely remember changing compatibility but don't remember where.
if this is not the right idea, should I get a dongle with software.
Thank you
Peter

error

I gave the Win 7 driver for my desktop by error.

However, I just found this information which came with the laptop system; Dell wireless DW 365 BT v2.1 + EDR.
Do you think installing this Win 7 driver then using the compatibility procedure would get BT or will I just negatively affect my system?
I am not sure I understand where to perform the compatibility procedure, if recommended. -is it in device manager?

Thank you
