My internet connection keeps disconnecting/reconnecting

Hi

I am having problems with my internet connection dropping every day, usually around 2-3 times per day. Internet goes off for a second or two and it comes back. Usually this wouldn't be a problem for me but I am a professional poker player and every time internet goes off, I loose all my active tables in poker lobbys (due to reconnect) which is unacceptable and a serious problem for me.

I have tried this now on both Windows 7 x64, as well as windows 8 x64, and same problem continue to happen after freshly formatting my PC. I am connected directly to my ISP modem and I have also connected another computer(laptop) in same way to determine if it's a computer issue and this problem isn't happening on my laptop.

What Have I done so far?

-Updated latest driver, changed cables, disabling and replacing LAN cards, disabling sleep modes.
-Formatted my computer (Went back to win8 from win7 as I thought this might be the issue but it isn't)
-Tried removing programs such as NOD32,Utorrent,etc..
-Talked with ISP who replaced the modem and confirmed it is stable and not dropping connection on their side.

I'm not sure what else to do and I'm out of options so hopefully some of you might help me figure out what's causing this. Since the latest format(yesterday) I have so far installed just the programs as you can see below in my attachment. (keep in mind that all these programs are on my laptop as well where everything works normal, except for hardware specific drivers of course)

I've already tried that and disabled it so unfortunately this is not a solution.

Which sites do you mean ?

Like Skype, Outlook,William Hill ? Not much more I've been using since the reformat since I wanted to track down the issue.

EDIT: I see you meant for internet URL's... that is not the issue though and programs I mentioned have been added in firewall yes.

What is the make and model of modem/router? Is this a wired/wireless issue or both for particular PC? Have you checked to see if the modem/router has a firmware update. Usually, a firmware update with solve this type of issue. Even though you've had yours replaced it's still worth updating.

I had a similar problem with online gaming through steam. After about 10 minutes of game time I would loose/drop connection to server. A firmware update solved it for me.

ISP modem is Prospero632+ and both computers are now connected directly to modem with cable. There is no option for firmware update, I understand ISP does this and it is up to date. I'm sure the issue wouldn't be only on one computer if this was a firmware issue.

There is a router in house as well but it's for other computers in house and not for these two. I have tried removing it too already and that didn't make any change.

I can tell what part of the problem is here, the modem is actually a modem/router, otherwise two machines could not connect to it, then you have a second router which is connected somewhere along the line.

This configuration won't work unless you disable DHCP one of those routers, usually the second router should have DHCP disabled then you need to plug the modem/router into the LAN, not WAN port on the second router. You really should go with regular modem, not a combo modem/router unit, then plug this regular modem into a regular router "WAN port' then to the PC's.

As far as the intermittent connection goes, that is most likely from an installed program and the only way is to use the process of elimination. You can use Autorun's for Windows to track down that problem.

The DHCP is off on router and it's now on LAN as well and this is not the issue of my problems as I have already tried that configuration and completely disabling router as well.

I'm interested in your "Autoruns" solution though but I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. I've now installed Autoruns but I am a bit confuse on how I should be tracking down the problem here. Did you mean to go to "Logon" tab and then uncheck one program, restart computer and wait few hours if disconnect happen? Then enable that one, disable next, restart,wait,etc... ? Just wanted to be sure before proceeding with this very long process.

Yes it's process of elimination, you can disable them one at a time or narrow it down by disabling groups of programs then enabled them back one at a time until you find the problem.

This is unbeliavable. Today I have bought a new computer (except for RAM and discs) and after doing another clean install on NEW computer, same thing happens again. I have installed so far only needed drivers for the sytem, Chrome, Office 2010, Skype and one poker client.

I'm getting really frustrated over this as I just spent over €1k to see that this problem continues. If there is someone who might have an idea what this is PLEASE help, I'm willing to pay to someone who knows the solution as well.

i Had a similar issue on laptop after an upgrade to 8 pro. Ended up doing steps to reset my firewall settings

By that you mean using the "Restore to default" function ? I'll try that but I haven't touched firewall settings anyway.
