LAN Troubles

Hey guys,

I installed Windows 8 two weeks back. Since the last week I am facing a very peculiar problem.

At random, Windows would refuse to shut down, although it would cancel out the display. Hitting the power button it would bring the PC back to life in a state half in shutdown and half alive. Upon restart, Windows will refuse to detect my LAN driver. It wouldn't even show up on the device manager (not even as an unknown device).

I have Gigabyte G1 Assassin motherboard with BigFoot Network LAN card. To make the LAN work again, I have to delete the Big Killer Network software from my PC and re-install it again. But after two days, Windows will do the same thing all over again.

What could be the reason behind this? Any help would be appreciated!

Turns out, I really want my Fast Startup. So I tried looking for other solutions to my problem. I found out that BEFORE the LAN problem occurs, Windows gives an error that the BigFoot LAN software installed on the system has crashed. I disabled it from Windows Startup, and even with Fast Startup enabled, I haven't run into any problems so far.

I will update further to see that remains the case.

Yup, LAN drivers went missing just now. Disabling the software didn't help much. Argh, using WiFi for now, and hopefully look for another viable solution than turning off Fast Startup.
