So I have 2 hidden wireless networks at my work

with windows 7 I would have a list of my hidden SSID networks and could easily switch back and forth

why did this change with windows 8?

I have to use "Hidden Network" and manually input the information from the wireless icon - dumb!

either way, switching back and forth between hidden and non hidden network it always asks for my password! wth ???

suggestions ??

yes i have seen these articles and i know how to connect to a hidden network

the point is it does not save the passphrase when switching between hidden and normal SSID....

I would think that the check box to remember to connect automatically would work but it may work differently for no SSID broadcast.

Have you manually typed in the network name, type of security and the network security key on the Manually connect to a wireless network page "link below". Access for that page is through the Network and Sharing Center. It's best to remove the old wireless profile before manually creating the new one.

Maybe it's not remembering this information for security reasons or there is a problem with switching between the two, but it seems like it should be able to save the settings.

Certain types of wireless connection software can also cause this problem, the ones that install along with the wireless NIC drivers are notorious.

I just don't get why Microsoft changed this feature... I don't like it.... I wish they had kept the workaround shell command but so much for that..... bah!

is there a way to even create like a shortcut on the desktop to connect to a wireless profile ? I could live with that

As far as I know they didn't change it, but there are other things that can cause this type of problem like connection software.

With no SSID broadcast it is mandatory to fill out the manual wireless profile from the Control Panel, that procedure should definitely be working and saving all sign in credentials.

Yep...it's the same way in windows 7.

I'm pretty sure that someone isn't following directions exactly as printed in the link which requires you do fill out the wireless settings manually through the control panel.

Either that, Or the connection software that installed with the wireless device is causing the problem.
