rejoined homegroup

I have rejoined my old homegroup, since that, I have noticed on the 8 PC in the users folder there is this new folder called "Default.migrated" folder. In it there are two other folders, documents and links which both are empty. I've searched in vain to find an actual answer as to where this folder came from and why was it created. Everything I read only states it from an upgrade of 7 to 8. This is not an upgrade, this is a clean install form boot media disk (ISO). This only showed up after I rejoined my homegroup that was created in an windows 7 environment.

I take that back, only one of those folders is empty. The links folder has a shared spaced folder which is empty.

I did a search in google for "Default.migrated" and found the same question here,
New folder "Default.migrated" in the "Users" folder - Microsoft Community.
In Microsoft Community the answer was - "Default.Migrated" folder has appeared because you have upgraded from Windows 7 to windows 8.

"Default.Migrated" folder was a path that contained your user account settings and data.

You can leave it alone, as it contains migrated user settings and data.

The thing is this is not a very informative answer. This is why I came here also. I just upgraded a Vista machine to Windows 8 Pro. While doing some cleaning up I found this folder. I like things clean & neat.
Why is this folder here & how can it be deleted? Or should it be deleted? Oh yes, it only shows up under the network tab. Right now it looks like no one in the Microsoft Community has an answer either.
