If you are still having problems run this file which will reset everything network related and it will reboot your machine.

Have you tried running the sfc/scannow command?

Please post a screen shot of the ipconfig/all if you are still having problems after that. :)

This shows the Qualcomm adaptor as being connected with a valid IP.

Did you have a third party Anti Virus software installed?

I don't know what advanced system care is but most of those programs end up causing problems.

Usually the reset or refresh will fix these types of problems. :)

You will need to uninstall Avast using the special tool they have for this.

Pretty much all third party Av's have been causing connection problems on certain systems with Windows 8, no idea why this is.

Actually the access is denied because you do not have permission to access C:\Windows\system32\netsh.exe. So if you really want to do this you will have to gain ownership of the process by right-clicking the netsh.exe and going to properties and permissions. Tha´t all!

@chev65, you might consider noting that Norton and a number of other programs are starting to find IPResetALL.exe as a trojan of some sort, so someone wanting to use the program might have to tell their antimalware program(s) to ignore it. I've been using it for more than a year with no problem from Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware or NIS, but Norton "discovered" it a few weeks ago as Trojan.Zeroaccess.C. VirusTotal has 11 out of 52 scanners finding some kind of risk: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/...9050b1a6f8d622a508df47b59ee8d858eed/analysis/

It's only picking up the advertisement that runs for the .bat to .exe converter, the little ad only run's in DOS. It's perfectly safe, Norton will pick up just about anything that isn't registered with Microsoft, that file has fixed more machines than Norton ever will but thanks for letting me know. :)

I am going to be "that" guy and dredge up an old post due to its relevance vs making a new one while making my first post lol.
Hope that is OK?

My wife's PC running 8.1 with a WiFi USB adaptor is now giving me the dreaded "windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings", worked fine yesterday and nothing changed or installed.
I have done everything to no avail.
System Restore = No Change
Reset Device via disable / re-enable = No Change
Tried different USB ports and 2 different WiFi dongles = No Change
Scanned with Malwarebytes = No Change
Run CMD as Admin and winsock & ipv4 (get the same error as the user who posted a pic of it did - access denied) = No Change
This is where I cannot seem to gain full control in the security tab for netsh.
I only get read access and no ability to check anything off thus I am getting the access denied error when trying to reset.
Only trusted installer seems to have that access.

I am pretty well versed in computers when it comes to both hardware and software troubleshooting however I am even at a loss for how this happened and how to correct it.
Any help is appreciated!
Cheers

I'm sure some of you may know this but I've been going nuts for almost two weeks because my brand new HP Pavilion Laptop 17-f136ds Wi Fi sucked even after I dumped McAfee and disabled all add-ons.

I read everywhere to fix the limited Wi Fi signal strength just reset the TCP/IP stack using the elevated command netsh interface ipv4 reset but I got: Resetting, Failed / Access is Denied / Resetting, OK / Restart the computer to complete this action..... but even after reboot nothing was being reset until I ended up on this page and this registry fix seems to have done the trick. (I hope, or it's back to my Gateway Windows 7 laptop)

Hello arcieus, I'm not sure if you're trying to do the reset I posted a link too but if so, have you tried...

[FIX] "Limited WiFi'' Status In Windows 8, 8.1 - Kapil Sparks

1. Press
W8K.png
+ R
and put regedit in Run dialog box to open Registry Editor (if you’re not familiar with Registry Editor, then click here). Click OK.

2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nsi\{eb004a00-9b1a-11d4-9123-0050047759bc}26.... Click NSI and then right click eb004a00-9b1a-11d4-9123-0050047759bc}26 (# 1 in attachment # 2)

3.
In the left pane of this location, right click on the key 26 and select Permissions. This will give you following window: (Attachment # 3) ...In the above shown window, click for the single group listed there i.e. Everyone, you have to provide permission of full control by putting a check mark against Full Control option. Click Apply followed by OK. Close the Registry Editor.

5. Open administrative Command Prompt and paste following command followed by Enter key:
netsh int ip reset C:\resetlog.txt

Where you can substitute C: with your system root drive. After successful execution of command, you can close administrative Command Prompt and reboot the machine to get fixed.
