Hello.
Please help. I am extremely frustrated.
Problem: Internet (wifi) is extremely slow, for weeks on end.
Background and specifics of problem: I purchased a Lenovo k330B this fall. It came with windows 7 installed. For the 6 or so weeks using windows 7 never encountered any issues with internet. Upgraded to windows 8 at official release, upgrade went fine. Internet worked as usual for first couple of weeks. Out of the blue, internet started acting up. Very slow speeds. Two other computers with windows 7 connected to the same router, continued to work perfectly. Researched and researched without results, then suddenly internet started working again.
Weird.
Fast forward a month or so and boom, internet starts acting up again. Internet unbearably slow. Takes 5 minutes to load google news, etc. Can't find a solution. After hours of trying random fixes, turn off live updates (which in my mind should not be causing the problem) and it seems to start working again. Everything is working well again for about a month... Fast forward, 3-4 weeks, until yesterday and boom... Internet not working correctly again.
No clue. Things to keep in mind: My other two windows 7 laptops never have had any issues, even when the windows 8 machine is not functioning properly. The wireless drivers are up to date. I switched anti-virus between first and second occurrences, so it isn't my AV causing problems. Wireless signal strength is strong. Network resource monitor shows no unusual network activity. Restarting computer/power cycling modem/router do nothing (slow from startup). This problem exists with all browsers. Also, once in a while if a page is just sitting there trying to load, if I stop and reload it, the page will load quick... But this only happens a small percentage of the time, most times if I stop and reload it just tries to reload and doesn't load or does so very slowly.
Please help.
Computer literacy: Medium
Computer: Lenovo IdeaCentre K330B 7747-2AU
Wireless: Realtek RTL8818CE
Router: Netgear wpn824v3 (I really don't think the router is part of the problem)
Sincerely, thank you in advance for any help!
