Internet stopping after 15-20 mins!!

Hey, need a bit of help. My laptop is new (got it for Christmas) and ever since I have loaded it up it has been constantly disconnecting me from the internet every 15-20 minutes, even though it says I am still connected to the router, it just won't give me internet access. I know it is not my router at fault as my parent's laptop, which runs windows 7, stays connected and so does my iPhone, I'm not sure the problem is, please help?!

Your router may need an updated driver or updated firmware to be good to go with 8. Similar problems also can be associate with AV software often installed at the factory. Suspects include Norton and McAfee. Personally, I would uninstall either on general principles. An uninstaller is available on the Norton site.
