My Win8 is working fine, but the XP that I connect to is in the ditch due to Comodo. The only way I can get things working is to prevent Comodo from running; not even "Disable" works. When I run "net view" it returns a 6118 error and not even the XP machine that Comodo is disabled on. Anyone have a suggestion? thanks...

I don't know about Comodo, but I solved the problem and removed it and installed MS Security Essentials; things are working great.

Many of these third party firewalls/security/AV products will have problems with Win8. Stick with the built-in Win8 security until the third party apps mature and become stable...

This was on a XP machine networked to a Win 8.

Oh, sorry I missed that. I do have a dell lapop running WinXP networked to my Win7, Win8 and Ubuntu devices and have never had a problem but I'm running Microsoft Security Essentiials on Win7 devices and Windows Defender on the Win8 devices. No third party AV.

You are wiser than I was. Comodo use to be a excellent firewall, but I have lost respect for it. Now, has MS placed a censor into their system that may be causing this problem, I don't know? I do know that XP can tell if there is a 3rd party installed and will display the on/off setting base on it and at the same time tell you that your firewall is disabled meaning that windows' firewall is turned off if it is.
