DNS Server Addresses

The DNS server addresses for my network adapter are not the same as those shown in my router. Should they be the same? (I'm not having any problems with my internet connection). Also, in the network adapter advanced settings for IPv4, in the WINS setting, I have enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP-is that correct?

Advice would be appreciated.
Thanks and regards, Roy

They don't need to be the same unless you set them that way. You really should be using the router for DNS and you don't need to type the DNS servers into the IPv4 properties at all.

I prefer to use the router for my DNS server IP's which shows up as the default gateway of my router in the ipconfig, this means that it points back to my router as the DNS server which is the best and easiest way to do this in my opinion.

Typing into the IPv4 properties isn't required at all if you already have them typed into the routers settings.

You don't usually need to mess with WINS but yes you want Netbios enabled.
