Help please - one PC boots the other

Hello,

I have a problem:
When I resume my laptop from sleep, it automatically starts my desktop, if the desktop is in hibernate or sleep.

I tried many things: Disabling remote desktop etc, but I cannot find out what is causing this on the laptops end.
On the desktops end, it is always the inconclusive message when doing powercfg/lastwake what points to a booting from lan.

Does anyone know how to help?

I am really frustrated.
Sometimes the PC just starts for no reason.

It looks like maybe your desktop is set to wake on LAN. But, right now I am unable to put my finger on where to change the setting. I was thinking that this setting was in Control Panel > Power Options, but can't find it.

I don't understand: "when doing powercfg/lastwake what points to a booting from lan." But, it sounds like something about setting power configurations and waking and LAN.

Yes it is set to that, but it should not start automatically.
I now switched to the other Ethernet port and now it works, probably because of different mac address.
Unfortunately I still have the problem that the desktop wont hibernate... something about a client connected, will have to look into that now...

Found what I was looking for. Go Control Panel > Device Manager. Get properties for the the network adapter that you are interested in, and, then, select Power Management. You'll see options to allow or disallow waking on LAN by the adapter. Perhaps not allowing will help you solve your problem. And, yes, the BIOS setting has to be correct also.
