decided to give win 8 another chance lol
my problem is i only have limited streaming.
first of all my setup im running win8 pro as os connected to router via ethernet cable,my sony bravia KDL-40CX523 TV is also connected via ethernet cable although my pc is in a different room to TV and router.
in win7 i enabled sharing and allowed my tv access to my files on pc this meant a few taps of the tv remote and could watch anything in my videos folder without the need for burning discs perfect.
in win 8 have enabled sharing allowed my tv access yet when i try and access from my tv it fails at the first hurdle my pc wont show up to click on through the tv menu setup.
one thing i did find however was the ability to play it on my tv but must start it from my pc i right click on video hit "play to" and my tv is there clicked it and the video started playing on my tv in other room.
so my question is-is there a way to get my access from my tv to my pc files back again its no fun hitting "play to" then running like hell into other room to watch the video.
a update after countless hours of trying different settings etc i finally found the answer myself and the fault wasnt windows 8 it was my sony tv had to go into the network settings and refresh all the settings soon as i did this it found my pc straight away tested a small vid and streamed flawlessly
