so i upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8, had a few complications along the way, but finally got it up and running, thought everything was cool, the i went to download a tv show.

pre-Windows 8 my max downloading speed was about 540kbs, but now since i upgraded i get 170-230kbs.

i went to toshiba website to get my drivers, but i'm unable to change them, every time i uninstall the wireless network driver, it goes away from list in Device manager, then it comes back. most of the other drivers installed without problems, so i don't know what to do.

my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L770-PSK3SC-00R004

really appreciate any help i can get, i'm tired of using my phone for downloading

You might also try resetting winsock or the TCP/ IP stack by running the following two commands into an elevated command prompt.
Elevated Command Prompt - Windows 7 Forums

Winsock entries tells Windows 7 how to access your network services. Additionally, your TCP/IP protocol can be corrupted. The TCP/IP protocol is a stack of 4 layers that includes several transport layers, but when this stack is corrupt you will constantly have connectivity issues.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)

upgrade installs instead of a clean install always end up with driver issues. You should use a third party tool like Driver Fusion to delete your wireless driver and after that reinstall the new one.
