I just updated my Windows 7 computer to Windows 8 Pro RTM. Prior to updating my internet worked fine wired and wireless. Now Google chrome, and ie10 will not load any webpages. Metro apps (mail, store, maps etc ) all load correctly. I've tried wired and wireless connections. They both say they are connected but websites won't load. I also tried disabling and re-enabling and restarting. Nothing will allow it to work. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to the forums bluezeb,
Switch off the Router and switch on and see whether it fixes.

I tried that three times, and it did not help. Also, other devices on the network work just fine. The only problem is loading websites in a browser. Metro Apps can load (store, mail, etc.)

Usually when only browsers can't seem to get online it's a winsock or TCP/IP problem.

Winsock entries tells Windows 7 how to access your network services. Additionally, your TCP/IP protocol can be corrupted. The TCP/IP protocol is a stack of 4 layers that includes several transport layers, but when this stack is corrupt you will constantly have connectivity issues.

Run the following commands one at a time typed into an elevated command prompt, hit enter after each one then reboot the machine and check if browsers can get online again.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)

Thank you! At first it didn't work in Chrome, but worked in IE10. So then i tried reinstalling Chrome, and now using the Metro version of chrome everything works perfectly! Thank you so much!! :D
