I edited my post with a program (Memtest). And that also might be the problem if you have different brands of memory or if they are running at different speeds. If they are the same speed that most likely isn't the case though. So you can continue on testing the memory. :)

It could be your memory, have you ran any tests on that?

The speed difference isn't even noticeable. If you do a lot of video editing, 16 gb's would be needed, otherwise there is no point. But games these days are utilizing more ram so it would be good for that too.

Did you download the chipset drivers for the laptop?

Did you download the installer directly from Microsoft's website? I think this problem relates to anti-virus software, if you have it disable it and then try to run the installer. Also if you didn't try it already, maybe a reboot would help.

Download it from the internet as the internet usually has the newest version available.

I believe this is a problem with chrome, every now and then I also have this happen to me. I know how annoying it is. Basically all you can do is wait for a new chrome update or install an older version of the browser, sometimes it even randomly goes away.

That should work, it's just a little slower than your current ram (400 Mhz), but it will fit and work. :)
