Is Windows 8.1 more stable than 10 at this point?

I guess my hardware/software wasn't very current/compatible. PS: Nice, you've been here in Brazil, Recife. You should visit Rio and Natal too.

PC won't boot, can't get to BIOS or safe mode.

Try Hiren's Boot CD. It has saved me from similar situations before. Other than that you could try reinstalling Windows.

Is Windows 8.1 more stable than 10 at this point?

I'm using 8.1 because 10 seems too unstable for my taste, it BSOD's without warning and besides this is still more compatible. Not to mention it seems to be faster for gaming. Do you agree?

IE11 processes keep open in Task Manager

But those open processes keep eating up my RAM, so it must be a flaw, why doesn't Chrome have the same issue?

IE11 processes keep open in Task Manager

After I launch IE11 and then close it(with all tabs), then I open the Task Manager on the Processes tab and there are 3 IE11 instances still open and no matter how many times I end these tasks, they'll immediately open again, consuming my ram AND CPU. That's why I started using Chrome. Still...

Which version of 8.1 do you think is best?

I haven't had that issue either so far, maybe it's an installation issue.

    old games are very slow

I also play GTR Evolution, which is a DirectX9 game and is a direct descendant of GT Evolution (same people behind it), and this is a 2008 game. This one, I have to be alone on the track doing hotlaps if I want to have decent FPS. Its graphics aren't all that different from GT Legends but maybe...

Did MS trade beauty for speed?

If only they had used the resources they saved with aero/glass with implementing more options on the apps, especially the Video one, then it would've been justified. People wouldn't be using 3rd party software for better functionality instead of the apps. I make an effort and try and only use...

Did MS trade beauty for speed?

I have, as you can see, a limited machine, it has just above what's required to run Windows 7/8.1 well. And yet I'm pretty positive that if MS had made Windows 8/8.1 with all the eye candy from Windows 7 I would still be able to run it pretty well on this laptop. That's what gets me, why haven't...

Solved Apps keep open in the task manager after I close them

Ok, the method I found the quickest and easiest was pressing alt+F4 to completely close the apps. Thank you!

Solved Apps keep open in the task manager after I close them

Ok, after a bit of googling, I've found a (different) way of closing the apps for good: You click and hold on to the top of them and then drag them to the bottom of the screen, then after a while the app will flip onto its Metro look then you can let go of it. That's it. I just wish I could...

Solved Apps keep open in the task manager after I close them

I normally only use 2 apps: the Mail and the Video, and even after I close these two apps, when I take a look at the Processes tab in the Task Manager, they are still there, there's no more CPU usage but they keep using Memory, which is usually a lot. So every time I want to actually close an...

Did MS trade beauty for speed?

But aren't all Windows versions made for the majority of its demographic? If so, then they have made all Windows thinking of lower end PCs, which are what most PC owners and Windows users will have. Of course, you were right in the sense that if someone is wealthy enough to dispense with 200+...
