Solved Getting W7 games to work in W8

You have to gather the Microsoft Games folder, and the cardgames.dll (system32) from a 64bit W7. After placing the MS Games folder in the 64bit W8's Program Files, you have to add the dll inside each of the card games sub-folders. The patch exe will now work as advertised (making sure you have...

Solved Getting W7 games to work in W8

There used to be a patch that enabled the Windows 7 stock games to work in W8. I'd say that was less than a year ago. It worked for my first W8 pc. Microsoft.games.patcher.1.2-patch.exe I just tried that on a new 64bit W8 install of mine and it didn't work this time. Has anyone visited...

I follow. Thanks Brink. Figured it wasn't too bad of a deal.

Solved Can an activation be taken back?

No. The slmgr has an uninstall option, but I think that was meant to remove pirate keys. I'm assuming we have to get it removed from the MS server in order to successfully install on another pc?

Solved Can an activation be taken back?

I tend to this small five person office; (one of a few). Boss purchased W8Pro, one retail license. He wanted to see it, so I started the install (which requires the key entry right up front) and went about other work. Cautioned him about not letting the activation happen over the internet, but...

Solved How do I activate the Win8 DP 32-bit version?

Depends. WtoGo doesn't accept the NF32V key. At least in my two cases.

Windows 8 to go - on a USB stick

That E-How tutorial by Ramya Hariharan works fine for changing the W8toGo key from removable to a local disk. But how does this help you to get updates into the key itself? What you've changed is the Disk Management setup in the pc the key is plugged into. You haven't changed the key to boot up...

Windows 8 to go - on a USB stick

Windows-To-Go on a USB 2.0 key is NOT viable. Put together the Wtogo on a new Corsair Voyager 32g key - USB 2.0. I am with our esteemed WHS in declaring this system on a 2.0 stick AGONIZINGLY SLOW!! First pc I popped this into took 1hour and 45 minutes to Metro screen. "Preparing", "Setting...

Solved Windows-To-Go won't go for me.

Okay! That's the problem. I'm doing this inside W7. My bad. Got to pay attention to ALL the words on the printout sheet. I'll power up my W8, stick the key in & try that command again. It'll work then, won't it?

Solved Windows-To-Go won't go for me.

Not working for me. I only show four switches: l s v m. No sub-switch under s. No matter what command line iteration I try, bcdboot will not execute if I have an /f switch on the line. Will it load the boot process files without that parameter?

Solved Windows-To-Go won't go for me.

Printed out the scenario for creating a Wtogo flash drive. Everything is fine until this command: (in an elevated prompt of course) bcdboot d:\windows /s d: /f ALL Nothing happens. bcdboot is telling me there is no /f parameter; much less the "ALL" after it. So, I have as yet to get the boot...
