Your network card is toast. Replace it. DNS client issues are a red herring. The errors aren't causing the disconnect, the disconnect is causing the errors. Latest drivers cause bsod? Go drop 20 bucks on a new mini pcie card and see what happens, or stick a usb adapter in and shut this one...

What you are doing is absolutely fine , and I think you already found the root issue. It's not a driver issue, it's a disk controller mode most likely. If the laptop was ahci, then you need to have an ahci controller in the desktop. When it boots be prepared for a long and tedious driver update.
