Windows 8.1 won't open flash drive...

Yes. I bought a new flash drive today, and it is working fine. Luckily I have backups of what was on the old drive.

Windows 8.1 won't open flash drive...

Hey all. Thank you for all of the help, but the flash drive is no longer working on my laptop, or in the virtual machine on my computer. So I have come to the conclusion that the flash drive is corrupted. All of my USB devices are working fine, so this must be the issue. Thanks again. Maybe this...

Windows 8.1 won't open flash drive...

Unless I am doing something wrong, that "INFCACHE" file that he is talking about doesn't exist on my computer.

Windows 8.1 won't open flash drive...

There is no exclamation mark in Device Manager. When I plug it in, it connects to the computer, and then it disconnects about a minute later, then reconnects. When it reconnects, it shows up in Device Manager as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descripter Request Failed)". Very odd. Should I try...

Windows 8.1 won't open flash drive...

Yet another lovely problem with 8.1. When I plug in my drive, it shows up in with all of my other drives, and when I double click it to open it, the explorer window freezes, and doesn't unfreeze until I unplug the flash drive. I don't know what went wrong. This is a new problem that just came...

Games for Windows Live connection error on 8.1

Believe it or not, I actually have solved the problem. I had an unrelated issue with updating Skype. Just like the GFWL program, it was not visible in uninstall a program in the Control Panel. After some poking around on Google, I found someone who was having the same issue. Someone posted a...

Solved Games for Windows Live "Can't Start Program"

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out and see what happens. Also, when I run the installer for GFWL, it tells me that the program is already installed and only gives me the option to launch it.

Solved Games for Windows Live "Can't Start Program"

No, the only one of those I have is xlive.dll. None of them are in system32. Do you know of a site where I can safely download them? Also, I tried running the program in compatibility mode, still ran into the problem. These missing files may be the issue.

Solved Games for Windows Live "Can't Start Program"

This is what I did originally back when I had Windows 8. When I updated to 8.1, the program disappeared from the Uninstall programs in control panel, making it impossible for me to uninstall even with 3rd party software. I am stumped. I made a whole new thread about this, and haven't found any...

Games for Windows Live connection error on 8.1

"Connection error: Can't start the program. There may be a problem with your internet connection or the LIVE service.". It gives me the option to troubleshoot, view help file, or close the program. I've tried troubleshooting, all it does is retry the connection, and the help file is not helpful...

Games for Windows Live connection error on 8.1

Yeah. I had to agree to something on Xbox.com, but I'm still getting the error.

Games for Windows Live connection error on 8.1

I hadn't heard that. I would still like to be able to play my games online in the meantime though.

Solved Games for Windows Live "Can't Start Program"

The problem I'm having is that it tells me that GFWL is already installed, and only gives me the option to launch the apparently corrupt program that gives me the connection error message.

Solved Games for Windows Live "Can't Start Program"

Yeah, it doesn't show up. I tried Revo, doesn't show up there either. I see it in my program files. but can't uninstall it. This is irritating. I'm seriously regretting updating to 8.1, I've had several issues after the update.

I am having the same problem. Except I cannot uninstall it. The program doesn't even show up in the control panel. Trying to play GTA IV online.
