Task Scheduler not showing history after Windows 8.1 updat

I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 a week ago. The Task Scheduler History tab is not showing any history data since the upgrade. History is still enabled for all tasks in the Task Scheduler. Google searches didn't turn up anything that helped. I have confirmed that the tasks are still running...

Solved SSD space not being shown correctly?

Windows 8 optimizes disks automatically. The default setting is weekly. I use the defaults. To examine or change the schedule, open My Computer, select a drive, right click and select Properties. On the Tools tab, click on the Optimize button. From there you can change the schedule.

Solved SSD space not being shown correctly?

Correct, it is generally not good to defrag a SSD. However, the Windows 8 function is named "optimize disk." For a mechanical disk, that function performs a defrag. For a SSD, the Optimize function performs a TRIM. And TRIM is good for a SSD. I would definitely not run any third-party...

Does Microsoft really want annoy their customers ?

I also can pin Word 2013 to the desktop taskbar from the Start page. When I right click on Word 2013 on the Start page, the options at the bottom of the screen (as shown by Brink in his message) includes the ability to pin to the desktop taskbar. And this works in my testing.

Solved Anyone running Office 2013 Pro TechNet version?

I installed the release version of Office 2013 from TechNet. But neither Word nor Excel are working. When I start either program, their start screen comes up normally. When I try to create a blank document, or open an existing document, I get an error dialog "Microsoft Word is not working"...

Solved Numlock - silly little error

I decided it was easier to punt and run a job to set numlock on at logon, using a numlock utility I found on the web. (There are probably lots of such utilities; I just picked the first one I found.) I did encounter one interesting quirk: if I just run "numlock on" after booting, it doesn't...

Solved Numlock - silly little error

ok, I wonder what the difference is? It's helpful to have a positive report, so I now know it's something specific to my configuration.

Solved Numlock - silly little error

@PJL, no, it's not rocket science. But it doesn't work for me. If you filter through the "hits" you mention, you'll find a few with the same complaint, that the solution doesn't work on Windows 8 for them either. I'd be interested in hearing from someone who has used the registry fix solution...

Solved Numlock - silly little error

I don't have a Logitech keyboard. It's actually a Unicomp -- equivalent to an IBM Type M but USB instead of PS2.

Solved Numlock - silly little error

@Burgurne - no, that did not work. @bassfisher6522 - reinstall the keyboard driver? I checked with Device Manager, and it says I have the latest driver installed. I'm using whatever keyboard driver Windows 8 installed for this computer.

Solved Numlock - silly little error

Are there any answers to this? I am also finding that Windows 8 turns off NumLock automatically, even though it is on in the BIOS and the indicator light is also on until Windows starts booting. I tried changing Initialkeyboardindicators to 2 but that didn't help.

Limiting factor for me is use of the onchip HD4000 graphics. I don't game, so graphics is acceptable. Mobo is Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe.

Change The Border Color Of Inactive Windows

I was just looking for the same feature myself. With a large screen and lots of background windows, it is hard to pick a specific window because all of the light grays just run together and the window borders are less obvious.

Windows 7 and 8 on separate disks, or dual boot?

My question is technical and not about licensing--are there any gotcha's about adding Win7 to an already installed Win8? I have the necessary licenses.
