What's the Product name on the sticker on the bottom of your laptop? I'm sure the problem is the LAN driver.

Why don't you tell us the model of your laptop. Sony... Then when I have time, I will also look for any drivers for it.

Make sure that Windows 8 isn't set to automatically find and install updates. Then, if I were you, I'd uninstall the LAN driver and disable and delete your internet/LAN connections etc. in Windows 8. Reboot the PC. Somehow get the drivers from here (Downloads) after choosing 32 or 64 bit...
