10th October 2014 and I have just been quoted the same generic key you have listed, by a microsoft advisor, as their 8.1 upgrade to my preinstalled 8 removed the Asus recovery F9 option. I too get the no internet connection screen. Looks like I'm still without an option to fresh install to fix...
