Windows Blue - small look at leaked build 9364

Yes, I'm aware the concept goes back much further than that. I was referring specifically to Windows. I guess I misunderstood your point. Now that I get it, I'm still not sure it's a good idea to have an application's functionality embedded into the kernel, but Microsoft apparently sees things...

Windows Blue - small look at leaked build 9364

User/kernel mode isn't new to windows 8. It's been a fundamental element of the NT kernel since it was created 20 years ago.

Windows 9: How Microsoft might overhaul the interface

    So you're saying you're easily brainwashed? ;)

    AMD - No DirectX 12

I think the idea is that DirectX is somehow as great as it could ever be, which is ridiculous. Microsoft wouldn't switch to OpenGL, they'd just quit moving DirectX forward. I think the OP is wrong, because DirectX is also used in other applications than just games, and newer versions improve not...

Can you survive in Windows 8's modern UI alone?

    No, I don't think you really can...yet.

    This is nonsense.

The real reasons to blame Windows 8 for plummeting PC sale

But they don't want any actual solutions, they just want the opportunity to blame Microsoft.

Microsoft's Windows 8 approach: Bold, arrogant, or both?

Oh of course. It's all just the pro-Metro side. None of the anti-metro folks are having any attitude at all. Right. :sarc:

Microsoft's Windows 8 approach: Bold, arrogant, or both?

So I'm speaking about advancing technology and the actual interface between man and machine, and then you bring up some stupid theme engine and claim that I'm the one not getting it. Right.

Microsoft's Windows 8 approach: Bold, arrogant, or both?

No I didn't...you did. I used the word, "future," in a totally different context.

Microsoft's Windows 8 approach: Bold, arrogant, or both?

I think Luna and Aero both looked way more child-oriented than either metro or the new metrofied desktop.

Microsoft's Windows 8 approach: Bold, arrogant, or both?

I thought we were talking about functionality? If it's about looking "futuristic"/h4x0r friendly, then I'm sure there's probably some ridiculous hollywood-made film computer interface that fits the bill better than any of them.

Microsoft's Windows 8 approach: Bold, arrogant, or both?

The availability of information at a glance, the ability to easily use touch interaction, the smooth operation of the interface, clean design... how many points need to be made?
