Yes, noticed the same thing today after switching to my synced account to a local account. I could have sworn it wasn't like this before (i.e. you could have a local account and still access metro apps but that you had to sign into each of them individually).

Well, it looks like some things never change. I went through the whole sleep issue last year and the solution that worked for me was essentially having a local account. I ended up starting from scratch this week with 8.1.1 thinking maybe all those updates in the last year would have done...

So I guess I didn't try "everything". I disconnected my account to a local account and voila! For the last three days it sleeps on its own again like it used to. Must still be a 8.1 thing as I had a linked account on Windows 8 and it slept fine. Oh well, just glad it is working again...

Well, I went through the whole thread over the last couple of days and tried all the suggestions but I'm still SOL. I'm running a clean install of 8.1 Enterpriese on an Asus P8Z77-V Pro MB, never had Homegroup set up and confirmed its disabled, I fully disabled Skydrive (don't use it anyways)...
