Turns out I had a virus who was keeping windows from doing almost everything (downloading updates, updating from a cd, updating my antivirus) as many other things. I realised when I couldn't go into some of the microsoft pages. Now I'm running and rocking WIn 8, thanks guys!!

Thanks to you all, I disabled my AVG before upgrading and also tried running a clean boot to see if I was having a software issue but that's not the case. I'm burning a dvd with the "Windows 7/8 download tool" and see if that works. I'll try it out and tell you, thanks for the help! :)
