Did anybody figure this one out? I do not own a wireless N card, and I do not want to purchase one for two reasons: 1. I am not 100% sure it will work. 2. This problem should not be there. I mean, college networks connected to windows 7, and it can't be a problem with MY college network...

I have this problem as well. The help desk at my U did not know how to solve this, though they suggested it might have to do with security settings. Manually setting up the network did not help either. Windows 8 connects fine to public and private networks, open or with a password requirement...
