@Bill2 - Thank you for the instructions. I done as you said, the scripts run but I have no ribbon UI. Update I have now changed RPEnabled back to 1. I notice on every login now Explorer.exe restarts -I wonder why.

@WHS - Apologies if I was the one misleading you. I read on another forum that 2 disabled metro but everything else stayed. I tried it and it didn't work for me but thought it was my laptop not working right. @Bill2 - I have found renaming shsxs.dll crashes Explorer.exe at startup.

There seems to be some confusion on whether Defender 6.2 does the same job as MSE 2. I think this is due to the fact Defender leaves no icon in the notification tray.

I have a AMD Sempron 3500+ CPU and it seems to run WDP okay. However, I haven't tried to run event viewer yet -I'll report back later what happens (since I'm on another computer at the moment). Update Event viewer works fine for me.

@Bill2 - Perhaps I'm not trying Shift + F2 in the correct place. Do you press those keys when at the boot menu?

Nope - still nothing. I don't know if it makes a difference but I downloaded and installed the WDP 32bit (without developer tools).

Yes - I have WDP & Safe Mode as yourself.
