    Considering this is the exact same process I used last time I doubt it will. Only thing I'm doing differently is leaving system restore on and doing all 93 updates before upgrading to 8.1.

    Thanks for the advice man. Problem is I installed a new SSD yesterday and deleted all restore points haha. Luckily I found a saved windows 8 iso in my other drives download folder. I mounted that put my key in and am now in the process of updating 93 items at once before upgrading to 8.1

    Just worked 5 hours with a microsoft tech and he couldn't fix it. Tried that didn't work. Says can't connect. Thanks for reply.
