With e-mail open go to right bottom of screen open settings charm, click on Devices, select M/S XPS Document Writer then Print and Windows 8 is supposed to speed things up. Don't confuse this Mail option with the two other versions of Outlook i.e Windows Office Outlook and Outlook Live
