Well the bat file linked to earlier (reset default views) worked, but also had the effect of scrambling my desktop icons every time I reboot. Luckily found a reg edit fix for that: Fix Windows 10 does not save the Desktop icon position and layout - Winaero

Have had this problem on my brothers machine for past 9-12 months. Only seems to happen when gaming. When mouse is panned it momentarily freeze or lags and accompanied by some notification or connect/disconnect beeps. Also happens in windows 10 which he dual boots with. Mouse is Logitech MX-518...
